What is Arch Crawford’s background?
Arch started watching the stock market when he was 13 and bought stock the following year. After studying math and physics at the University of North Carolina, he wrote up stock price changes in chalk at the Merrill Lynch office in Raleigh, NC. Transferring to New York later that year, he kept the weekly charts for Merrill's 45 industry specialists and soon became the first ever assistant to legendary Technical Market Analyst, Robert Farrell. His interest in Astrological cycles was piqued by a front page article in The Wall Street Journal on April 16, 1963. (link to article)

Since 1977, we have reason to believe Arch’s printed accuracy is Second to None! Often in the Top 10 computed by independent rating services, many of his best market calls were prior to becoming rated. This service is totally separate from the newsletter, and deals with very short term timing, especially of the Index Futures (S&P500, NASDAQ 100, GOLD and 30-year BONDS). While these are specifically commodity futures, some apply the advice to the SPYders, DIAmonds and QQQ's "tracking" stocks of the major Stock Indices.

From the beginning, we have attracted a very professional and sophisticated element to our hearth, including many known in the financial community. Relating to the sensitivity of much of our subject matter, we do not sell our lists, or even reveal the identity of our subscribers, without their expressed permission. Many have come, not from an interest in Astrology, but for our record of accuracy!
We are dealing/teaching/interpreting not one, but two complex ideographies in the Technical Market Analysis and the Astronomic Cyclical Analysis. There is only a handful of people who understand both! We write in a breezy, sometimes humorous style, which most readers find refreshing and amusing. In more recent times, as our reputation has grown, many more are attracted who are not so knowledgeable.
In the lower left corner of the newsletter's front page, we give current recommended overall positions for the Major Indices. This is the simplest and quickest understanding of our mind set. Although we prefer the more experienced reader, we try to please as many as we can, and have an ASTRONOMIC ACTIVITY calendar on the last page for those interested in that aspect of our work.
Readers have a wide diversity of action and risk preferences and we rarely recommend specifics—and almost never in option strategies. But with our generalities of commitment level, we are Very CLEAR! We also prefer as clients those who take responsibility for their own decisions, and do not require an undue amount of hand-holding. Toward that end of clarity vs. risk, we ALWAYS have an Exit Strategy for getting out without losing everything, with an extensive use of STOPLOSS points.
What subscription is right for me?
Our flagship newsletter, Crawford Perspectives, primarily covers the “Big Picture” of market direction and expected turning points. It gives a specific level of commitment to stocks, but does not mention individual stocks.
HOTLINE Updates are available for the short-term trader, although we do not encourage short term trading except for the professional or semi-professional who is looking for more than skin-deep methodologies.
The Consulting Arrangements are for contacting Arch Crawford, personally, as reasonably desired, on topics related to Technical Analysis or Astronomic Cycle analysis, expectations, and reasonable strategies and tactics. He also sends out charts with comments to the consulting list by email, as unusual situations develop.
Why do astro indicators work?
Research by John H. Nelson, a radio propagation specialist for the RCA Corporation in the late 40's, proved that the planetary alignments relative to the Sun could help him time sunspot activity and Solar flares and thereby assist his employer in rerouting radio transmissions efficiently. John took the 13 worst radio disturbance dates on record at RCA and drew the Sun-centered (Heliocentric) charts for those times. He was amazed to find very complex harmonic planetary interactions at the onset of these Magnetic Storms.
However, planetary and House rulerships, depending upon subtle likenesses harken back to ancient magical/mystical practices. Why should Gold decline when Saturn (contraction) enters the sign of Leo, ruled by the Sun, with rulership over Gold? The day that Saturn entered Leo in Apparent Right Ascension (measurement used by Astronomers), the International Monetary Fund (IMF) announced they would sell tons and tons over months and months, and Gold experienced the only Limit Down day during that year! Why should such a thing occur? We do not know, but it does!
Why is Arch interested in space weather?
John Nelson of the RCA Corporation would call Arch with the information that a flare was in progress and radio communications across the North Atlantic were totally blocked. Arch would then check the market and find that, typically, the stock market was dropping sharply and that Gold was rising meaningfully during the geomagnetically disturbed period. Arch calculated the average percent change in the Dow Jones Industrial Average around onset of these worst storms and found much stronger than usual negative bias from 2 days before to 3 days after onset of such storms.
What is the Bradley model?
In 1948, Donald A. Bradley wrote a pamphlet titled Stock Market Prediction. It describes the methodology for creating a Model of General Stock Market possibilities, in great detail, including a weighting for EVERY one of the classical Ptolemaic harmonic angles between any 2-planet pairs. Its strength and its weakness is that some years, it will precisely point up Highs, Lows and Turning dates for the Major Stock Market Indices, and other years will seem a random mishmash of useless squiggles. The Turning Dates are the most reliable portion of the Bradley, Direction, somewhat less so, and Amount of Move, least reliable. Sometimes a calculated High will, in reality, come about at a Low in stock prices and vice versa. In other words, it’s something we should keep our eyes on, but not something to Bet the Farm on, especially in a vacuum as in the absence of other technical confirmation from real-time data generated by the actual movements of prices in Wall Street.
NOT Included in Bradley’s work are Syzygies (New and Full Moons) and their special cases, the Eclipses, Declination Factors (North-South positions, except for Mars and Venus), Heliocentric alignments and Large Configurations composed of Multiple Harmonic Interactions among several planets, simultaneously. When the Force is extra-ordinarily perturbed by any of these other factors, the Bradley projection can go totally awry.
The BRADLEY Model has projected the General Market Indices over the last 18-20 months (to mid-2003) with stunning regularity! Since most classic financial and even many technical analysis techniques have failed to match this incredible recent record, Bradley's Sidereal Potential Line has gained an unaccustomed modicum of notoriety, of late.
This is quite an unusually long run, and we have happily ridden this fortunate wave, but do NOT wed your market fate to the Bradley alone. Not that the Planets are fickle, but that our understanding of the processes involved must be considered useful, though somewhat rustic.
How does Arch combine astrology and technical analysis?
We compute the classical theoretical Bradley Model and throw in some far more sophisticated statistical data gleaned from actual past occurrences, and analyze complex configurations of planets coming up in the near future. Any projection reaching out more than 5-8 weeks is going to inculcate a great amount of planetary and other natural cycles.
We have tracked about 28 Technical market indicators, several developed by us, over many years and over a multitude of changing market motifs. Technical Analysis deals primarily with information on markets developed through the market processes themselves, patterns of price and volume, momentum, measures of sentiment, the reaction of the markets to news rather than the news itself.
As our astronomic and natural cycles approach points of potential importance, we look to the data actually generated by patterns of Buying and Selling for confirmation from the Real World that price action is conforming to expectation. This comparison is essential to meaningful application.
Astrologers do better in markets if they have been through the fire of actual trading practices, after which they are more likely to become conversant with Technical Analysis concepts. It would behoove other market participants to familiarize themselves with current astro-cyclic thinking.
Many other astrologers will also consider aspect alignments relative to Birth Horoscopes of Companies, Nations, or bodies such as the Federal Reserve, which adds more extraneous information and may clarify or further obfuscate the analytical process. Go for the Big Picture and do not get lost trying to figure trends day-to-day.
What is Arch’s market philosophy?
Investing and Speculating in the large, liquid world markets whether Currencies, Bonds or Equities, is a marvelous and tantalizing GAME. Though not as dangerous as the WAR GAME, generally, it is rooted in Real Life, and can dramatically affect your lifestyle, and especially the quality of your retirement. So it is, nevertheless, a SERIOUS game.
If you wish to be successful at this game, as well as the game of LIFE, you must compute odds, limit risks, and strategize...strategize. Always remember that in the game of MONEY, you are playing against many of the smartest and richest minds on the planet! So act accordingly - Cautiously!
Some have hypothesized that it is also a highly Spiritual Game. It will grasp your emotional/habitual life elements by the throat and throw you down, then lift you UP, and throw you down again until you are forced to look at yourself and know yourself, and conquer yourself in ways you have never before imagined.
